The Kreuzspitze (also Kreuzspitz ) is at 2185 meters the highest mountain in the Bavarian part of the Ammergau Alps . The Kreuzspitze is not to be confused with the Kreuzspitzl a good 900 meters south on the Austrian border (2089 meters), just as little to the west with the Kreuzkopf or the Kreuzspitze near the Hochvogel in the Allgäu Alps (2367 meters).
The mountain is located southeast of the Ammersattel in the Ettal Forest . The easiest way to reach its summit is via the normal route from the north through the Hochgriesskar. However, it is also possible to take the Kreuzspitzl upstream from the south with you and to reach the main summit via the ridge (points I to II ). The mountain also offers a challenging ski tour through the Hochgriesskar.
The surrounding peaks ( Frieder , Geierköpf , Schellschlicht ) are also popular tour destinations.
