Friedhelm Köhler (* 1957 in Landau in the Palatinate ) is a German psychologist , manager , management consultant and board member .

Live and act

In 1976 Köhler passed the Abitur at the Max Slevogt Gymnasium in his hometown. He completed his studies in psychology at the University of Mannheim with a focus on clinical psychology , which he graduated in 1984. He then worked at the Mannheim University as a research assistant at the psychophysiological laboratory headed by Hans-Ulrich Wittchen and at the Central Institute for Mental Health . One of Koehler's main research areas was the psychological coping with hysterectomy , which he published in the journal Praxis der Psychotherapie und Psychosomatik published by Peter Hahn .

After switching from psychotherapy to industry, Friedhelm Köhler was group leader for “Leadership and Change Management ” at BASF from 1995 to 2000 . Köhler was one of the first in Germany to propagate the superior appraisal method in order to improve management relationships and communication between superiors and employees. This was initially controversial because the method limited the power privileges of executives. On the basis of his empirical studies, Köhler introduced eleven dimensions according to which the leadership competence of superiors should be assessed: Openness - information / transparency - promotion of innovative behavior. "

In 2000, Köhler moved from BASF to Schörghuber Stiftung & Co. Holding KG , where he was part of the company's management. He was the head of human resources and managing director of the group. In 2008, like many other top managers, he left the group of companies led by Stefan Schörghuber . Since then, Friedhelm Köhler has been managing director of the “Institute for Management Consulting” in Heidelberg , which advises companies such as ARAG SE , Ericsson , Knorr-Bremse and Rütgers Chemicals and trains managers.

Rowling , among others .
