Peter Hahn (medical doctor)

Peter Hahn (born April 10, 1931 in Hanover ) is a German specialist in internal medicine , psychoanalysis and emeritus professor for "General Clinical and Psychosomatic Medicine" at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg .

Life

Peter Hahn was born the son of a specialist in orthopedics. He attended the Ratsgymnasium in Hanover and passed the Abitur there in 1949. After a time as a nurse in Göttingen , he began to study medicine, interrupted it several times to study art and history and then continued in Munich , Berlin , Bonn and Heidelberg until the state examination in 1957.

With his PhD thesis on transfer concept in Freud 'rule, young ' rule and anthropological Medicine (Heidelberg 1958), he took following the Anthropological Medicine of Viktor von Weizsacker and could, after a surgical and orthopedic assistant time, as well as a psychotherapeutic education in Munich and Göttingen, 1963 as an assistant at the "Institute and the Department for General Clinical Medicine" (Prof. Paul Christian ) of the Ludolf-Krehl-Klinik Heidelberg . He completed his internist training (1969), acquired the additional qualifications “ Psychotherapy ” and “Psychoanalysis” and qualified as a professor in “General Clinical and Psychosomatic Medicine” with a thesis on the psychosomatics of myocardial infarction (1970).

In 1979 he decided to continue his practical and theoretical work in Heidelberg and in 1979 succeeded his teacher Paul Christian as medical director of the Department of Internal Medicine II (focus: general clinical and psychosomatic medicine) at the Ludolf Krehl Clinic in Heidelberg. He worked there until his retirement in 1996.

In addition to his clinical and academic work, he was a founding member of the Heidelberg training program for the additional qualification "Psychotherapy" (1971) and since 1977 also working as a training analyst (DGPT) at the "Institute for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis Heidelberg / Mannheim".

From 1964 to 2006 he was a member and from 1971 to 1974 head of the program committee and later scientific advisory board of the Lindau Psychotherapy Weeks . In 1974 he was also a founding member and board member of the "German College for Psychosomatic Medicine", from 1979 to 1983 board member of the "General Medical Society for Psychotherapy" (AÄGP) and from 1995 to 1999 chairman of the "Viktor von Weizsäcker Society".

Since 1965 he has been married to the doctor and psychotherapist Barbara, b. Leonhardt. He has two sons.

In 1986, Peter Hahn, together with the medical historian Heinrich Schipperges , the philosopher Hans-Georg Gadamer , the pathologist Wilhelm Doerr , the internist Fritz Hartmann , the "internal" psychosomatic specialist Thure von Uexküll , the neurologist Dieter Janz and the social medicine specialist Wolfgang Jacob on Symposium on the 100th birthday of Viktor von Weizsäcker .

Act

His scientific focus was on the development of clinical group therapy, interdisciplinary heart attack research and the practical and methodological development of anthropological medicine. In 1996 he retired and since then has been pursuing, in addition to his artistic and medical interests (problems of rheumatological psychosomatics), above all methodological and epistemological issues.
