Friedrich August Pischon

Friedrich August Pischon (born July 6, 1785 in Cottbus , † December 31, 1857 in Berlin ) was a German historian , preacher, publicist and Protestant theologian , Dr. theol.

He studied in Berlin and Halle (Saale) Theology , where he Schleiermacher joined. In 1810 he became assistant preacher under Schleiermacher at the Trinity Church in Berlin, and in 1815 preacher at the Great Friedrich Orphanage. In 1816 Pischon found a job as a history teacher at the Berlin Cadet Institute , where he received a professorship from 1825. He was characterized by extensive knowledge and a special pedagogical talent. In 1827 he was appointed deacon and from 1832 archdeacon to St. Nicolai . From 1836 he worked part-time as an assessor at the Berlin Consistory of the Province of Brandenburg . In 1843 he was appointed consistorial councilor. From 1848 to 1853 he was co-editor of the “Zeitschrift für die Unierte Kirche”, in addition to which he published numerous research results in the fields of theology, literature and education .
