Friedrich Daniel von Glaser

Friedrich Daniel von Glaser (* 1740 in East Prussia ; † November 23, 1804 in Skierniewice ) was a Prussian major general and chief of Hussar Regiment No. 10 .

Life

Military career

He comes from a humble background and in 1760 during the Seven Years' War he became a hussar in Hussar Regiment No. 3 . He fought at the Pass of Pyritz and was shot through the left leg while defending Kolberg. For his bravery in the field, he was on 21 January 1762 as a cornet in the Hussars. 5 is added. On April 29 In 1764 he is second lieutenant and 5th July 1770 first lieutenant . But on June 2, 1771 he was transferred to the Hussar Regiment No. 9 (Bosniak Corps) as a staff officer. On January 26, 1776 he was promoted to captain and squadron chief. During the War of the Bavarian Succession he fought in battle near Jägerndorf. On December 2, 1786 he became major and on September 25, 1787 he was even raised to the nobility .

On February 12, 1793 he became a lieutenant colonel . During the Kościuszko uprising in Poland, he took part in the skirmishes at Kolno, Sboyne and Demniki. For his behavior with Demniki he received the order Pour le Mérite . He was then appointed colonel on February 6, 1795 and regimental commander on August 17, 1799. But on October 1, 1799, he was appointed chief of the 10th Hussar Regiment. On May 20, 1800 he was also major general with a patent from June 2, 1800. He died on November 23, 1804 in Skierniewice.
