Friedrich Franz Kosegarten

Friedrich Franz Kosegarten (pseudonyms: Julius Florello and Justus Jucundus Jocosus ; born November 1, 1772 in Grevesmühlen , † December 19, 1849 in Reval ) was a German theologian , educator and writer .

Life

Friedrich Franz Kosegarten was the youngest son of pastor Bernhard Christian Kosegarten (1722–1803). His mother Anna Christiane, b. Stiegenhaus, († 1979) was the second wife of the father. The philosopher, lawyer and poet Christian Kosegarten (1770–1821) was his brother, the pastors Johann Joachim Kosegarten (1751–1823) and Ludwig Gotthard Kosegarten (1758–1818) were his half-brothers.

Friedrich Franz received private lessons from his father and then attended the Latin school in Wolgast , of which his half-brother Ludwig Gotthard had been the rector since the summer of 1785. He then studied theology from 1791 to 1794 in Rostock and then for another year in Greifswald . Then he became tutor to Johann Friedrich Boldt at Schloss Vietgest .

In 1802 he married Friederike Schröder, the daughter of a council surgeon from Lübeck . He became a teacher at Hezelschen Teaching and Education Institute in Dorpat and was in 1803 at the University of Erfurt Dr. phil. PhD. In 1804 Kosegarten lived in Hamburg and published the weekly "Iris" here. From 1805 to 1814 he was a teacher at the district school in Wenden , then senior teacher at the Gouvernements-Gymnasium in Reval. In addition, Kosegarten was the owner of the "Comptoir for Literature and Art" in Reval. In 1837 he was retired as a councilor .
