Karl Daniel Friedrich Salis (born September 1, 1880 in Fiddichow , † August 26, 1914 near Tannenberg ) was a German historian .

Live and act

Friedrich Salis was born in 1880 as the son of a coppersmith master William Salis in Fiddichow and attended by Easter 1892, the public school , then the student secondary school in Szczecin , which he left after his graduation in 1901 to the summer semester 1901 at the Georg-August University to study philosophy and religious studies in Göttingen and then for two semesters in Berlin . In Göttingen he became a member of the connection and later fraternity Holzminda . From 1902 he did his military service with the Brandenburg Jäger Battalion No. 3 in Lübben . He then continued his studies of theology , Semitic languages and history in Göttingen, which he completed with his dissertation . He then became a private lecturer at the University of Marburg and did important research in the field of the history of Pomerania and the history of Mecklenburg . Salis was a member of the Society for Pomeranian History and Archeology and in the Association for Hessian History and Regional Studies . During the First World War he was killed in 1914 at the Battle of Tannenberg . His estate is in the State Archives in Szczecin.
