Friedrich Weidemann (born January 1, 1871 in Ratzeburg , † January 30, 1919 in Vienna ) was a German opera singer ( baritone ).

Life

Weidemann was trained in Hamburg with Wilhelm Vilmar and Berlin with Conrad Muschler. He made his debut in 1896 at the Stadttheater in Brieg / Silesia, sang in Essen in 1897, in Hamburg from 1898 to 1901 and in Riga from 1901 to 1903. From 1903 ( engaged by Gustav Mahler ) until his death he was a member of the Vienna Court Opera .

Especially in the Wagner subject (including Amfortas in the Vienna premiere of Parsifal in 1914 ), but z. B. also in the title role of Mozart's Don Giovanni and as Orest in R. Strauss' Elektra as well as in world premieres of operas by J. Bittner, Fr. Schmidt etc. successful. Weidemann made guest appearances in Berlin in 1908, in London in 1910, in Zurich in 1917 and also performed as a concert singer (including in the 1905 premiere of Mahler's Kindertotenlieder , 1912 in his Lied von der Erde in the first version for tenor and baritone solo) .

He was buried in the Dornbacher Friedhof in Vienna. Grave already abandoned.
