Friedrich Wilhelm von Apenburg (* 1734 ; † August 6, 1779 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian major .

Life

Origin and family

Friedrich Wilhelm was a member of the Pomeranian line of the originally Altmark noble family von Apenburg . His parents were the Swedish lieutenant and heir to Groß Mokratz Erdmann Joachim von Apenburg († 1767) and Juliane von Apenburg. He himself remained unmarried and left no children behind.

Career

Apenburg joined the Prussian Army and was an ensign on foot in the Guard from August 18, 1757 , was promoted to Second Lieutenant on February 27, 1757 and Prime Lieutenant in 1758, and became captain on January 10, 1761 . After he was already in the field in the Seven Years' War , Apenburg received his promotion to major on October 21, 1776 and at the same time became the commander of a grenadier battalion , which was made up of two companies of the guard and the regiment "Prince of Prussia" . With this battalion he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . The promotion to major was preceded by a dispute or at least a change of petition with the king on questions of ranking and ranking as well as the resulting order of promotions.

Apenburg stood on foot with the Guard during his entire service. He finally shot himself in Potsdam in 1779.
