Friedrich Wolsegger (born June 2, 1882 in Mooswald near Gottschee , † August 23, 1943 in Klagenfurt ) was an Austrian politician of the Greater German People's Party and mayor of the state capital Klagenfurt.

Friedrich Wolsegger was born in Krain , in present-day Slovenia , as the son of a high school director and attended middle school in Gottschee and Villach . In 1912 he became a professor at the state grammar school in Klagenfurt, in 1926 the state school board, 1927 state school inspector for the secondary schools in Carinthia and Styria and in 1933 court counselor.

In 1913 he moved into the Klagenfurt municipal council as a Greater German and was elected mayor in 1921. His tenure was overshadowed by the high inflation that affected all areas of life. It peaked in 1925. A trip with the first Klagenfurt car taxi cost 59 million crowns. Industry and companies were founded and immediately disappeared. However, there were also significant foundations that still exist today: the adult education center , the Carinthian local history museum, the Chamber of Agriculture and Labor, the KÄWAG water management company (later KELAG), the Klagenfurt lido (one of the largest lido in Europe), the forest lake power station and the opening of the Vienna-Klagenfurt flight connection. In 1923 a new municipal code was passed and the posts of “city councils” were created. In 1925 the shilling was introduced. Wolfsegger's tenure was also overshadowed by a tragic accident: a couple named Baudisch were fatally hit by the falling north corner of the town hall. As a result, radical measures were taken to renovate dilapidated buildings in Klagenfurt, and the town hall was completely renovated.

General economic difficulties caused Wolfsegger to resign in 1926. He died on August 23, 1943 in the office of the Carinthian state government and was buried in the central cemetery Annabichl in field 4, row west, no. He remained unmarried.

In 1901 he became a member of the Carniola Graz fraternity and in 1903 a member of the Vandalia Vienna fraternity . His brother Ferdinand Wolsegger was the district president at the time of National Socialism.
