Friedrich of Baden-Durlach
Friedrich Hereditary Prince of Baden-Durlach (born October 7, 1703 in Stuttgart , † March 26, 1732 in Karlsruhe ) died before his father and therefore never came to the government in Durlach. He was the father of the later Grand Duke Karl Friedrich .
Life
Friedrich was the second son of Margrave Karl III. Wilhelm von Baden-Durlach (1679–1738) and Magdalena Wilhelmine von Württemberg (1677–1742), daughter of Duke Wilhelm Ludwig von Württemberg . After the early death of his older brother Karl Magnus (1701–1712) he was hereditary prince. His father ensured a good education and sent him on extensive trips to France, Holland and England. In 1724 he was appointed colonel of the Swabian district troops and in 1728 as sergeant general . During his father's trip to Holland in 1729, Friedrich took over his representation. Friedrich had a weak constitution and died of a "severe breast disease" - probably pulmonary tuberculosis .
Marriage and offspring
On July 3, 1727, Friedrich married Princess Anna Charlotte Amalie of Nassau-Dietz-Oranien (* October 13, 1710 - September 17, 1777), the daughter of Prince Wilhelm Friso of Nassau-Dietz-Oranien . The following children were born from the marriage:
- Karl Friedrich (born November 22, 1728; † June 10, 1811), Margrave and later Grand Duke of Baden
- Wilhelm Ludwig (January 14, 1732 - December 17, 1788)
