Friedrich von Görne

Friedrich von Görne (also Hans Friedrich Christoph von Görne ) (* July 24, 1670 in Plaue ; † June 24, 1745 ibid) was a Prussian civil servant. Görne is considered to be one of the founders of the Prussian civil service state in the era of King Friedrich I and his successor Friedrich Wilhelm I.

Life

Friedrich von Görne was born in Plaue Castle . His parents were the director of the Brandenburg knighthood, cathedral dean of Magdeburg and heir to Plaue Georg von Görne (1614–1680) and his wife Eva Katharina von Hünecke (1629–1710), daughter of Melchior von Hünecke, heir to Ferbitz and his wife Anna Sophia von Trott zu Solz .

In 1704 he became cathedral dean in Brandenburg Cathedral . When the credit work of the Kurmark landscape was reorganized, the knighthood appointed him to be the administrator of the estate finances in Berlin. Since 1703 he was court and legation councilor , two years later, when King Friedrich I appointed him to the secret court chamber and entrusted him with the central administration of the state domains . 1707 took care of the casket property.

Plaue Castle on the Havel

From 1708 to 1719 he chaired the Kurmärkische Hofkammer with such success that King Friedrich Wilhelm I entrusted him with the management of the economy and the Prussian postal system . At the same time he appointed Görne to the Real Secret Council of State . From 1711 to 1716 Görne had a new baroque palace built on his parents' estate, Plaue, which is still standing today; his son Leopold later sold it.

The war and domain chamber merged by Karl Heinrich zu Waldburg was merged with the regional finance directorate to form the highest state authority in early 1723. Görne became Minister of State and headed the 4th Department, responsible for Kleve-Mark-Ravensberg and for postal, salt and coinage . On 17 August 1736 he was appointed by the then Lord master of Johanniterballei Brandenburg Margrave Karl Friedrich Albrecht of Brandenburg-Schwedt Knight of the Order of St. John defeated. From 1739 until his death he was head of the 1st department.
