Friedrich Karl Engelbert von der Betten (born November 14, 1824 in Ritterhude , † February 15, 1889 in Hanover ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

He was a member of the Lower Saxon noble family von derdecke . His parents were Major General Arnold von der Betten from Hanover and Johanna, geb. from the wipe . The Saxon Lieutenant General Gideon von der Betten was his brother.

career

Blanket joined the Hanoverian army on April 5, 1842 as a cadet in the Cambridge Dragona Regiment . On February 7, 1843, he was promoted to Second Lieutenant , on May 23, 1851 to Prime Lieutenant , on May 11, 1859 to Rittmeister and on May 27, 1860 to Squadron Chief of the Guard Hussar Regiment. In 1866 he fought at Langensalza as a squadron chief against Prussia.

As squadron chief, he joined the Prussian Dragoon Regiment No. 11 on March 9, 1867 and rose to major on May 25, 1867 . On June 18, 1869 he was a regular staff officer in Dragoon Regiment No. 9 . In this role he took part in the Franco-German War . He was born on March 19, 1872 à la suite with the leadership of Magdeburg Hussars. 10 commissioned and on August 15, 1872 ibid. The commander appointed. His promotion to lieutenant colonel took place on March 22, 1873 and that of colonel on January 18, 1875. Since July 10, 1880 he was also commander of the 10th Cavalry Brigade. On March 30, 1881 he was promoted to major general. Blankets married Anna von der blankets called von Offen in Verden in 1863 . From this marriage the son Gideon, a Prussian Rittmeister, emerged.
