Fritz Schlegel , actually Friedrich Adolf Edmund Schlegel , (born August 16, 1901 in Coesfeld , Germany , † December 31, 1971 in Kleve , Niederrhein ) was a German actor .

Life

Fritz Schlegel received private acting lessons from Carl Schneider. He had theater engagements in Cottbus , Franzensbad , Würzburg and Danzig , later after the Second World War in Gotha and Chemnitz, among others . From 1954 to 1959 he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin ; after that he worked as a freelance actor.

At DEFA Schlegel was seen as a character actor in numerous films, especially in fairy tale films . Because of his corpulence, he often played roles like cooks or landlords . He appeared several times in the humorous short films from the Stacheltier series.
