Peter Brang (actor)

Peter Brang (born September 5, 1897 in Frankfurt am Main , † July 17, 1983 in East Berlin ) was a German actor and director.

Life

Between 1920 and 1922 Brang had acting lessons from Fritz Odemar senior (1858–1926) and with his support he was able to make a successful debut at the New Theater in his hometown. Then he was engaged by the Pforzheim City Theater and was later able to move to the Comoedienhaus Wilhelmsbad ( Hanau ). After an engagement at the Stadttheater Kaiserslautern he was brought to the Mecklenburg Theater in Schwerin .

Brang stayed there until the theater was closed on August 31, 1944. Immediately after the end of the war, director Werner Bernhardy brought him back to the ensemble, where Brang remained a member until 1952. In the summer of that year Brang was hired to East Berlin , where he played until his retirement. From this time on he worked more and more as a director. He was also successful as a speaker for various radio play productions.

Peter Brang died on July 17, 1983 at the age of 85 in Berlin, where he found his final resting place.

He was married to the actress Marion van de Kamp , whom he had met at the theater in Schwerin.
