Frode Alnæs (born March 3, 1959 in Kristiansund ) is a Norwegian fusion and jazz guitarist , who is also known for his work in the pop-rock band Dance with a Stranger .

Live and act

Alnæs graduated from high school in Kristiansund , and then from 1978 to 1979 he went to Nordmøre Music Folk High School in Nachbaradal . From 1979 to 1982 he studied in Trondheim (1979–82), where he met Tore Brunborg and Nils Petter Molvær . There he was one of the first to graduate from the jazz course at the Trondheim Conservatory of Music . Since 1984 he has been a member of the rock group Dance with a Stranger , with whom he repeatedly toured and made numerous records. In 1987 Alnæs composed the music for the rock opera Klæppfesk .

In 1988 Arild Andersen brought him into his band project Masqualero , in order to work with him again and again afterwards. Alnæs also organized his own projects with which he introduced himself to Moldejazz (1992 & 1994). With Arild Andersen and Rune Arnesen he appeared in a trio at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival 1995, before releasing his first album under his own name the following year.

He also recorded with Dee Dee Bridgewater ( Heartache Caravan ), Ketil Bjørnstad ( Odyssey , The Shadow ), Morten Harket , Ray Charles ( Strong Love Affair ), The Brazz Brothers and the Jon Eberson jazz punk ensemble . He also worked as a studio musician.

Prizes and awards

In 1988 and 1989 he was awarded a Spellemannprisen in the pop area for his participation in the albums Dance with a Stranger and To ; with this band he received the main prize in 1994, the Spellemann. He also received the COOP Norges Musikkpris 2001 and the Orkidéprisen 2002.
