Tore Brunborg (born May 20, 1960 in Trondheim ) is a Norwegian jazz saxophonist.

Live and act

Brunborg came to Bergen in 1979 , where he became a member of the Knut Kristiansen / Per Jørgensen Quintet . After attending Toneheim Folk High School , he studied jazz from 1980 to 1983 at Trøndelag Music Conservatory . During his studies he was already active in numerous bands: the Gunnar Berg ’s Kapell , the Bjørn Klakegg Quintet , the Trondheim Sympatiorkester , the Per Husby Quintet , Espen Rud ’s Kråbøl and the Jazz Punk Ensemble .

In 1982 he joined the quintet of Arild Andersen and Jon Christensen , known as Masqualero since 1983 . With this band he toured Europe and the USA. He recorded an LP with Jon Eberson in 1983 and Espen Rud in 1984 and subsequently worked with the Trondheim band Plumbo , the group of Bo Stief in Copenhagen , 1985 to 1986 with the Little Frøen Saxophone Quartet and 1986 to 1987 with Bjørn Alterhaug Band . This was followed by recordings for Odin with the Vigleik Storaas Quartet and the group Oslo 13 . He also worked with Alfred Janson , Jon Balke and Chick Lyall .

In 1989 he became a member of the Rita Marcotulli Quartet and worked with the Kjersti Stubø Band from 1990 , with the band Ab und Zu from 1992 and with Jon Balkes Magnetic North Orchestra from 1993 . He made recordings with Arild Andersen , Knut Kristiansen , Knut Værnes and Lars Danielsson , Mikhail Alperin , Jan Gunnar Hoff , Anders Kjellberg and Billy Cobham . In 1997 he brought out the first album ( Prima Luna ) under his own name with Kjetil Bjerkestrand .

In 2012 he was awarded the Buddyprisen , Norway's most important jazz prize.
