Funtana (Italian Fontane = fountain) is a coastal village and a municipality in the Istria County , Croatia . According to the 2011 census, the community has 907 inhabitants. The small town of Funtana got its name from the spring water resources in the region, which were first mentioned in a document in 1331. Even if these springs are no longer used, water channels from Roman times can still be found at the springs. The parish church of St. Bernard is worth seeing with its valuable oil paintings, which was built in 1621. The famous Kastel fortress, which was built in 1610, is located in the center of the village.
