Górki ( German  Görken ) is a village in the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship . It is located in the immediate vicinity of the border with the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in the powiat Sztumski (Stuhm) and belongs to the rural community of Stary Dzierzgoń (Alt Christburg) .

Geographical location

Górki is located about 30 kilometers southeast of the Powiat capital Sztum (Stuhm) on the north-western edge of the landscape protection park Eylauer Seenplatte (Park Krajobrazowy Pojezierza Iławskiego). The village can be reached via the provincial road 515 from Stary Dzierzgoń (Old Christburg) via Piaski Morąskie (Sandhof) . Until 1945 there was a rail connection via the Groß Münsterberg ( Monasterzysko Wielkie ) station on the Miswalde (Myślice) - Riesenburg (Prabuty) - Marienwerder (Kwidzyn) railway , which today only operates between Prabuty and Kwidzyn.

history

The village, also known as “Görcken” around 1820, was only a small place with an estate at the time. In 1874 it was incorporated into the newly established district of Alt Christburg (now in Polish: Stary Dzierzgoń) and belonged to the Mohrungen district in the Königsberg district of the Prussian province of East Prussia .

In 1910, 115 inhabitants were registered in Görken. Their number rose to 142 by 1933 and was 141 in 1939.

As a result of the Second World War , Görken came to Poland in 1945 and was given the Polish name “Górki”. The village is now in sztum county (district Stuhm ) and belongs to the Pomorskie (1975-1998 Province Elblag (Elbing) ).
