Gökçeada (Imroz) is a city in the Turkish province of Çanakkale and the capital of the district of the same name . The district town unites around three quarters of the district's population (2018: 73.65%).
The island belonged to Greece from 1919 to 1923 and was added to Turkey in the Treaty of Lausanne after the Greco-Turkish War . Of the more than 9,000 Greeks living on the island at the time, only about 250 remain today.

In terms of area, the district is identical to the island of Gökçeada of the same name . It is located in the Thracian Sea west of the Gallipoli peninsula in northwestern Turkey. In addition to the district town, the district consists of nine villages ( Köy ):
