Yenice is a city and a district in the northwestern Turkish province of Çanakkale . The city is located about 80 kilometers southeast of the provincial capital Çanakkale . The district town is home to around a quarter of the district's population (2018: 24.1%).
district
The district created in 1936 is the largest in the province and is located in the southeast of it. It borders in the south and east on the province of Balıkesir (4 counties) and in the west on the counties of Biga , Çan and Bayramiç . It is traversed by the Gönen Çayı , the ancient Aisepos , which is dammed about ten kilometers east of Yenice to the Gönen Barajı . It flows further north through the province of Balıkesir and flows into the Bay of Erdek in the Sea of Marmara at Misakça . South of the city is the Sakar Dağı mountain range , an extension of the Ida Mountains (Kaz Dağı).
In addition to the district town, Kalkım (2,362 inhabitants) is another municipality ( Belediye ). The district is completed by 76 villages ( Köy ) with an average population of 287 residents. Pazarköy is the largest of these with 1,427 inhabitants. With 23 inhabitants per square kilometer, the district is the most sparsely populated.
