Gökhan Keskin started with club football in the youth of Dikilitaşspor and moved from here to the youth of Beşiktaş Istanbul . In the summer of 1984 he received a professional contract here and found a place in the regular formation in a very short time. At first he was active in midfield and moved to this position after the libero of the team Samet Aybaba had ended his playing career and then played it himself until the end of his career.

Through his many years of work at Beşiktaş Istanbul , he is strongly associated with this club. He is seen by both the fans and the club as one of the most important players in the club's history. With Beşiktaş he was able to win the Turkish Championship five times, the Turkish Football Cup and the Turkish Supercup three times . He was an integral part of the team, described as legendary by the club and fans , which won the Turkish championship three times in a row in the seasons 1989/90 , 1990/91 and 1991/92 .

For the 1996/97 season, Beşiktaş decided to make a radical cut with the team and to form a new team with young players. As a result of these measures, they separated from many seasoned players, including Keskin. This then agreed with the then first division club İstanbulspor . Here he played for five seasons and then ended his active playing career. Two years after he ended his active career, a farewell game was organized for him, in which Beşiktaş met Bursaspor .

National team

Gökhan Keskin played four times for the Turkish U-21s and six times for the Turkish Olympic selection.

On November 11, 1987 he made his debut for the Turkish national team in a qualifying game of the European Championship in 1988 against the Northern Irish national team . From this game he was an integral part of the Turkish national team for almost a decade. With the Turkish national team, he just missed qualifying for the 1990 World Cup in Italy .

Following his playing career, he took over at his last club İstanbulspor as assistant coach and assisted Aykut Kocaman . Then Keskin worked as an assistant coach to his two former team captains from Beşiktaşer times, Samet Aybaba and Rıza Çalımbay . Only in the 2006/07 season he took over as head coach Güngören Belediyespor . But here he was replaced by Mustafa Serin after just three months . From 2009 to 2010 he was active as a youth coach at Beşiktaş.

National team

He took part in the 2012 tournament of Toulon with the second selection of the Turkish national team and made it into the final with her. In the final one was subject to the selection of Mexico. The Turkish A2 nominated players under the age of 23 for this tournament in order to meet the age requirements for the tournament.

At the beginning of 2013 he took part in the International Challenge Trophy 2011/13 with the second selection of the Turkish national team. Since only players younger than 23 years old could be used for this tournament, Keskin only nominated players who met this age limit. The group stage ended Keskins team with three wins in three games as the table first. In the subsequent semi-final match against the English C national team on February 5, 2013, the game was decided 1-0 for themselves and moved into the final.
