Göran Holter (born November 16, 1963 ) is a former Swedish football player . The striker played in Sweden and Norway .

Career

Holter began his career in the early 1980s with the then second division club Degerfors IF . With the club, however, he rose to the third division at the end of the 1981 season, and two years later he was promoted again. By the end of 1985, he played 116 senior team games for Degerfors IF, scoring 49 goals.

Before the start of the 1986 season, Holter moved to IFK Norrköping in Allsvenskan . Here he was quickly a regular player, with seven goals this season he was significantly involved as the most dangerous attacking player in the championship play-offs at the end of the season. There he retired with the team around Tor-Arne Fredheim , Hans Eskilsson and Peter Lönn, however, in the semifinals against the eventual champions Malmö FF . The following year he scored seven goals this season, again ending in the semi-finals - this time against IFK Göteborg - the championship dreams. In the 1988 season, the club missed the finals of the best four teams as sixth in the table, but reached the final of the national cup . Although Holter was not one of the goalscorers in the 3-1 final win over Örebro SK , he started alongside Jan Hellström , Ranko Đorđić and Sulo Vaattovaara when he won his first title . In the following season, the team moved into the championship final against Malmö FF. After a 2-0 home defeat by goals from Leif Engqvist and Martin Dahlin , he forced a play-off with his goal to win a 1-0 return leg. In the penalty shoot-out that was necessary after a 0-0 draw at the end of the season , he was one of the players who converted their penalty kick and thus contributed to the championship win. In the following season, the team was about to defend their title. She made it into the final round as second in the table and, thanks to the away goals rule , had defeated Östers IF after a 3: 4 away defeat with a 2: 1 home win. Holter was responsible for four of the five goals, while Jan Hellström scored the other goal. In the final, however, the team from IFK Norrköping failed to score and had to admit defeat to IFK Göteborg. Even in the 1991 season it was only enough for second place in the final accounts behind the Gothenburg club.

Holter left his home country in 1992 and joined the Norwegian club Brann Bergen . However, he did not stay long in the Tippeligaen and returned to the amateur club Linköpings FF in Sweden the following year . In 1994 he was again active for IFK Norrköping in the Allsvenskan, but after a season he switched again to the amateur area. Initially active for one season at the then third division club Karlstad BK , he moved to league rivals BK Olympic from Malmö in 1996 . Then he ran for BK Näset and Tomelilla IF .

Later, Holter worked as a coach for various amateur clubs.
