The Görlitzer Kreisbahn T 1 was a railcar of the Görlitzer Kreisbahn (Gö.KB). It was taken over by the Deutsche Reichsbahn in 1948 as the VT 135 500 and was shut down in 1965. It is no longer there today.

history

Gö.KB 1031 T 1

This railcar is the last vehicle acquisition for the Görlitzer Kreisbahn and should make operation economical when there is little traffic. At the Görlitzer Kreisbahn it was called T 1, from the operating company Lenz & Co. it was given the number 1031. This designation has certainly led to a lot of confusion, because one of the two railcars used on the Pomeranian state railways was also number 1031 . especially since after 1945 both railcars ran on the same railway line, the Stralsund – Tribsees line .

VT 135 500

The vehicle was taken over by the Deutsche Reichsbahn with the railway company in 1948 and was designated the first vehicle of this configuration as the VT 135 500 . On January 1, 1950, the vehicle was stationed in the Dresden-Pieschen depot . From 1950 the railcar was the first parent vehicle on the Stralsund – Tribsees railway line . The railcar carried out the regular passenger traffic on these routes with some old railcars until the use of the new VT 2.09 series made it superfluous. The other stationing dates were Barth (1955) and Prenzlau (1960). In 1965 the railcar was parked, in 1968 it was retired and scrapped.

Constructive features

The railcar belonged to a series of railcars for the small railways in Germany , of which Waggon- und Maschinenbau Görlitz (WUMAG) in Görlitz had created the design in 1933.

In comparison with other vehicles from WUMAG, there is great similarity to the T 1 and T 2 of the Schlawer Kreisbahn . In the literature, the wheelbase for Görlitzer Kreisbahn No. 1031 is given as 6,120 mm, but the information on the photograph from the WUMAG archive gives 6,200 mm. It can therefore be assumed that there is a series of all three vehicles. All of these vehicles had sliding doors as entry doors and simple folding windows. The same design was shown by a WUMAG railcar without pulling and buffing equipment as early as 1934 , and the T 1 and T 2 of the Schlawer Kreisbahn initially had no pulling and bumping equipment. The Gö.KB T 1, however, had coupling options from the start.

The underframe and the box frame, which was clad on the outside with 1.5 mm thick sheet metal, consisted of electrically welded structural steel profiles. The vehicles were designed as solo vehicles. As a brake, he had a one-way brake of the Knorr type , which was intended for a sidecar operation. The axles were only braked on one side. The drive axle was sent. The interior was divided into the passenger compartment and the two driver's cabs. They were separated from one another by partitions and revolving doors. The floor was made of pine wood covered with linoleum. The machine system could be serviced via flaps in the floor. The vehicle had 44 upholstered seats with armrests.

The vehicle was powered by a six-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine OM 67 from Mercedes-Benz . Before the takeover by the Deutsche Reichsbahn, the drive system must have been replaced, because there the vehicle was specified with a drive motor from Horch . The power was transmitted via the Mylius gearbox and an axle reversing gearbox, which was provided with a torque bracket. The vehicle was heated by a warm water heater, which was designed in such a way that the interior of the vehicle could be heated to +20 ° C at an outside temperature of −20 ° C.
