Günther Ballier

Günther Anton Albert Gustav Ballier (born October 18, 1900 in Berlin ; † April 20, 1980 ibid) was a German film and theater actor and voice actor who worked primarily as a supporting actor in DEFA and DFF productions.

Life

Ballier studied theater studies and worked temporarily as a bank clerk until 1923 before he took on various theater engagements at stages in Potsdam, Neuss, Hanover, Augsburg and Berlin. In addition to his theater work, he worked in German films from 1933, mostly in smaller roles, including films such as Heideschulmeister Uwe Karsten (1933) and Love and the First Railway (1934).

After the end of the Second World War , he made guest appearances at the Landestheater in Brandenburg and at various Berlin theaters, interrupted by a brief teaching position at the Fritz Kirchhoff Drama Academy. From 1949 there were also offers for film and television activities, where he could only be seen in smaller roles in GDR productions.
