Günther Bernd Ginzel
Günther Bernd Ginzel (born in Innsbruck in 1946 ) is a German journalist and publicist .
Life
Günter Bernd Ginzel grew up in Cologne . After graduating from secondary school, he was trained as a photographer at the Cologne factory schools. After working as a photographer for a few years, he studied history and sociology at the Universities of Cologne and Jerusalem . Ginzel writes essays and produces books and film reports for television. As a Jew, he took part in the organized conversation between Christians and Jews and was a pioneer in the conversation between Christians, Jews and Muslims. Ginzel was temporarily chairman of the Cologne Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation , he is (as of 2013) chairman of the "Working Group Jews and Christians" at the German Evangelical Church Congress and member of the "Discussion Group Jews and Christians" at the Central Committee of German Catholics .
For his social commitment, Ginzel received the Rheinlandtaler of the Rhineland Regional Association (LVR) and in 1997 the Hedwig Burgheim Medal of the city of Gießen .
In 2004, Ginzel was sentenced to a fine of 10,000 euros for embezzling club funds.
In 2006, a court case against Ginzel's wife found that she had wrongly received fees in 1999 and 2000 at the instigation of her husband. In a civil case before the regional court, the woman was sentenced to repayment of 34,000 euros.
In 2011 his wife was elected chairwoman of the Union of Progressive Jews in Germany.
Ginzel and his wife hold 50 percent of the shares in the non-profit GmbH Internationale Friedensschule Köln .
