Gabriel Bullet

Gabriel Bullet (born March 22, 1921 in Estavayer-le-Lac ; † September 7, 2011 in Lausanne ) was a Swiss clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Lausanne, Geneva and Friborg .

Life

Gabriel Bullet entered the local seminary in 1940 after attending the Collège Saint-Michel in Freiburg . He was ordained a priest on July 8, 1945 and was subsequently vicar of the parish of Saint-Antoine de Padoue in Geneva (1945/46) and of the parish of Notre-Dame in Geneva (1946/50). From 1957 to 1970 Bullet was Vice Superior of the Freiburg Seminary and Director and Professor of Liturgy and Pastoral Theology at the Freiburg Seminary. After studying in Rome and receiving his doctorate as Dr. theol. at the theological faculty of the University of Freiburg 1958 he taught moral theology at the Freiburg seminary until 1970 . He was also a lecturer in catechesis and moral theology at the University of Freiburg . From 1968 to 1971 he took over the management of the Theology Institute at the University of Freiburg.

Pope Paul VI appointed him on December 29, 1970 titular bishop of Glavinitza and appointed him auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Lausanne, Geneva and Friborg . The bishop emeritus of Lausanne, Geneva and Friborg, François Charrière , donated him episcopal ordination on February 6, 1971 ; Co - consecrators were François-Nestor Adam CRB , Bishop of Sion , and Pierre Mamie , Bishop of Lausanne, Geneva and Friborg. He was Vicar General and Episcopal Vicar for the Canton of Vaud from 1987 to 1994.

Bullet was Vice President of the Swiss Bishops' Conference from 1988 to 1991 and was responsible for the subjects of "lay apostolate", "marriage and family" and "specialized pastoral care".

His resignation was granted by Pope John Paul II on November 16, 1993.
