Gabriel Vasconcelos Ferreira (born September 27, 1992 in Unaí , Minas Gerais ), called Gabriel , is a Brazilian football goalkeeper . He has been under contract with AC Perugia Calcio in the Italian Serie B since 2018 .
Career
Beginnings in Brazil
Gabriel initially played for the various youth teams of Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte . In 2010 he was first inducted into the squad of the club's top-class professional team. At the age of 18, he won his first title as a reserve goalkeeper when Cruzeiro won the 2011 Minas Gerais State Championship . In the following seasons he could not get past regular goalkeeper Fábio , but at the same time experienced a successful career as a youth national player. In 2011 he was able to lead Brazil's U-20s to the South American Championship and then to the World Cup about six months later . A year later he was active at the Olympic Games in London and won the silver medal with Brazil.
Change to Italy
Although Gabriel remained a substitute goalkeeper at his club, the top Italian club AC Milan signed him for his extended squad in the summer of 2012. Gabriel, who cost Milan a transfer fee of 500,000 euros, was henceforth third goalkeeper for the Milanese after Christian Abbiati and Marco Amelia . He gained match practice in the club's second team, whose goal he guarded a total of nine times in 2012/13. On August 15, 2012 he made his debut for the senior national team , with whom he was able to retract a 3-0 victory in Sweden.
On September 1, Gabriel has until the end of the 2014/15 season in the Serie B at the FC Carpi borrowed.
For the 2015/16 season , Gabriel moved to SSC Napoli on loan . Further loans to Cagliari Calcio and FC Empoli followed .
For the 2018/19 season, Gabriel moved to AC Perugia Calcio .
