The Leipziger Hof is an in growth quarter close to the New Town market in the district of Neustadt in Leipzig located hotel that is connected by a gallery. All guest rooms are furnished with original works of art, especially by artists from Leipzig, so you always sleep “with an original”.

history

The building on Hedwigstrasse was built in 1884 in the Wilhelminian style as a tenement house. It is a listed building . After extensive renovation by the owner Klaus Eberhard , a Munich physics professor and art collector , it was opened as a hotel in 1992. The last partial renovation took place in 2014.

collection

In addition to the art collection, the most important collection with over 500 works, there is a gallery , known as galerie.leipziger-schule , with almost 100 exhibitions and the graphic cabinet . The collection shows works of German contemporary art of the 20th century, in particular painters from the Leipzig School and the New Leipzig School , which the owner of the house has been collecting since 1990. Personal contacts were established, for example, with Werner Tübke , Wolfgang Mattheuer , Arno Rink , Sighard Gille , Günter Albert Schulz , Michael Triegel , Neo Rauch , Rosa Loy and the artists who exhibited their works in the gallery.

Others

The hotel has had a GDR suite since 2010 . The owner bought the GDR furniture at an auction in 1995 of the former guest house of the Politburo of the SED in Leipzig's music district .

The hotel was the location for the MDR crime scene with Simone Thomalla and Martin Wuttke as well as the ZDF crime series SOKO Leipzig with Andreas Schmidt-Schaller .
