The core issue of Caritas is help in emergency situations.

  • Financial help and advice: When worries and economic problems get over their heads, social advisors try to find a way out of the crisis together. The help can be a bridging with emergency packages, clothing and food or a longer-term planning with the creation of a budget including clarification of legal claims. There are advice centers in Neusiedl , Eisenstadt , Oberwart , Güssing and Jennersdorf .
  • Accommodation and living: Single mothers in difficult life situations can find accommodation in the "Mother + Child = House" in Wimpassing . Homeless men find temporary accommodation in the Oberwart emergency shelter or in the "refuge room" in Eisenstadt. If refugees are allocated a place to live by the Province of Burgenland, Caritas Burgenland will take care of ongoing care.
  • Carla: The Caritas shop offers second-hand clothing, shoes, household items and furniture.
  • Counseling in life crises: Life counselors and violence counselors offer free help in relationship crises, professional problems and personal stresses.
  • Children and young people between the ages of six and fifteen receive free tutoring and afternoon care three times a week in learning cafes in Eisenstadt, Oberwart or Neusiedl. youngCaritas is aimed at young people who want to get involved socially: Orientation days and projects offer opportunities to personally experience the work of Caritas.

Care and maintenance

When it comes to childcare, Caritas Burgenland tries to support family carers so that those in care can stay in their familiar surroundings for as long as possible. If this is no longer possible, four houses are available in Burgenland.

  • Care guide: Caritas Burgenland offers comprehensive information for caring for relatives, from legal questions to help with special topics such as recognizing and dealing with dementia .
  • Care at home: Emergency telephones give old people the security of knowing that they will receive help quickly in an emergency. Home helpers help with everyday household chores and home nurses bring professional care into the home.
  • Day centers: In Neusiedl, Deutschkreutz and Tschantschendorf older people receive entertainment and care during the day.
  • 24-hour care: Caritas arranges carers for all-day care at home, helps with administrative processing and carries out regular quality controls.
  • Care centers for the elderly: If people in care can or do not want to stay in their own apartment, there are four houses in Neusiedl / See, Eisenstadt, Deutschkreutz and Rechnitz .

People with disabilities

The self-determination of people with disabilities is in the foreground in the three homes for the disabled in Wimpassing, Oberpullendorf and Deutschkreutz. This includes the promotion of social contacts as well as the suggestions that the residents bring their skills to the design of the daily, weekly and annual schedule.

Finances

The income of 27,586,000 euros consists mainly of fees for services (94%), the donations amount to 4%. 4% of the expenses are for administration and less than 1% for fundraising (as of 2017).

According to the information provided by the Federal Ministry of Finance, donations to Caritas in the Eisenstadt diocese are tax deductible as special expenses.
