The Caritas Salzburg is a social organization of the Roman Catholic church in the Austrian state of Salzburg . It is part of Caritas Austria , but an independent institution and reports to the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Salzburg .

International aid and disasters

Caritas Salzburg's foreign aid focuses on the Middle East countries Lebanon , Syria and Egypt . The local cooperation takes place with local Caritas organizations, other church partners such as religious orders and civil society organizations. In 2016, for example, over a million euros in Salzburg donations were used for projects in the Middle East for 25 aid projects, 400 children were supported by Salzburg sponsors.

Caritas village St. Anton

The aim is that people with disabilities can largely determine their own lives. For this purpose there are offers in the areas of living, work and employment, training and therapy.

Caritas Salzburg has the following offers for people with disabilities:

  • Caritas-Dorf St. Anton: offers individually tailored therapy, school attendance / work for up to 60 people with disabilities. They live in the village.
  • Day center Mittersill: For young people with disabilities after completing their compulsory schooling and for adults there is day care and a wide range of employment, therapy and leisure activities.
  • Mathiashof: The Mathiashof in the Ellmautal is a nature- loving , agricultural project for people with disabilities. It offers jobs to 20 young people. 15 of them live at Mathias Court.
  • Day center Elixhausen: Holistic care with therapy and support offers for around 15 people.

Disaster relief in Germany

Caritas' first point of contact in the event of a disaster is the regional Caritas centers. They are in direct contact with federal states and municipalities and help with financial support, emergency shelter, distribution of food and emotional help for affected families and relatives.

Finances

Income of 33,648,300 euros consists mainly of operating income (24.1 million euros), the donations amount to 4.2 million euros. 4% of the expenses are for administration and less than 1% for fundraising (as of 2017).

According to the information provided by the Federal Ministry of Finance, donations to Caritas in the Salzburg Diocese are tax deductible as special expenses.
