The Caritas Salzburg is a social organization of the Roman Catholic church in the Austrian state of Salzburg . It is part of Caritas Austria , but an independent institution and reports to the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Salzburg .

Poverty, Crises and Prevention
The core issue of Caritas is help in emergency situations.
- Regional Caritas centers: Regional Caritas centers in Salzburg and in the Tyrolean Unterland provide support in crises and emergency situations.
- Assistance for the homeless: Advice and overnight accommodation in emergency sleeping places for men, women and young people.
- Social counseling: support with legal questions, unemployment and help in financial or personal emergencies.

- Haus Elisabeth: day center, emergency medical care, crisis intervention and counseling as well as emergency shelter for around 20 homeless people in winter near the Salzburg train station, cultural and social meeting place.
- Haus Franziskus: Winter aid such as sleeping places, workplaces for long-term job seekers 50+ as part of an AMS project, clothing, kitchen with breakfast and dinner for overnight guests, shower facilities and laundry room, medical care.
- Social educational family aid in Tyrol: Support for families in stressful and crisis situations.

- Albertus-Magnus-Haus: a facility for people with chronic mental illnesses and an increased need for care and psychosocial support.

- SOALP: a housing project for people with addictions who want to be abstinent.
- Assisted living: Assisted living enables older people to live largely independently in subsidized rental apartments with the support of a social worker.
- Base housing in Obermoos: The base housing project enables people with mental health problems to live independently.

International aid and disasters
Caritas Salzburg's foreign aid focuses on the Middle East countries Lebanon , Syria and Egypt . The local cooperation takes place with local Caritas organizations, other church partners such as religious orders and civil society organizations. In 2016, for example, over a million euros in Salzburg donations were used for projects in the Middle East for 25 aid projects, 400 children were supported by Salzburg sponsors.
Re-integration and sustainability
- Under the title “Carla”, Caritas Salzburg offers second-hand goods at 5 locations ( Aigen , Lehen , Maxglan , St. Johann in Tirol and Neumarkt ) and thus creates 25 jobs (women and men 50+). 1800 people were helped by donating clothes.
- Workers over 45 years of age are supported to find permanent employment.
- The “ carla velorep” employment project enables young people between the ages of 15 and 30 to gain a foothold in the labor market by repairing and reselling donated used bicycles.

Caritas Salzburg training centers
- School for Economics and Social Affairs (SWS): A 3-year technical school for social professions and a 5-year "social management" course (with Matura) are offered.
- School for social care professions (SOB): Training to become a specialist or diploma social worker.
- College for Social Pedagogy: part-time college for social pedagogy at the SOB for employed people from 19.
Learning café
The offer of free learning and afternoon care for children between 6 and 15 years exists at 3 locations in Salzburg.
Youth employment project easy
The project offers 15 to 18-year-olds a low-threshold, daily structuring employment opportunity in the field of textiles and wood with daily payment of performance compensation in the city of Salzburg.
Street work
- Advice and help for young people on topics such as drugs, violence, sexuality, problems at school or with their parents
- Projects like a graffiti workshop or climbing.
The offer is available in Hallein, Pinzgau and Pongau.
Youth shelter Exit7
For young people between 12 and 18 years of age, this facility at Sietzenheimerstraẞe 7 in the city of Salzburg offers temporary overnight accommodation and basic services for up to 14 days / month.
Asylum and integration
Caritas Salzburg provides refugees with the following services:
- Basic care for asylum seekers: on behalf of and financed by the State of Salzburg
- Caritas refugee houses: During the asylum procedure, asylum seekers can live, eat and live in refugee houses free of charge. In Salzburg there are the locations Refugee House Plainstraße (Salzburg City), Refugee House Oberalm I (5411 Oberalm ) and Refugee House St. Anton (5671 Bruck an der Großglocknerstraße ).
- Legal advice: If necessary, background information is collected, intervened and, if necessary, legal remedies drawn up for poor clients.
- Crisis intervention and psychotherapy for asylum seekers (SOTIRIA project)

- ProLehRe project: Support for apprentices between 18 and 30 years of age who are entitled to asylum and eligible for subsidiary protection who are placed in an apprenticeship position in Salzburg ( Inner Mountains ) from Vienna
- Project div-in-co (diversity, inclusion and consulting) pilot project of Caritas in Salzburg, Upper Austria and Styria. Women with a refugee experience are supported in their inclusion in the world of work. At the same time, companies with a focus on equality, diversity and inclusion are advised.
Disability and Inclusion
The aim is that people with disabilities can largely determine their own lives. For this purpose there are offers in the areas of living, work and employment, training and therapy.
Caritas Salzburg has the following offers for people with disabilities:
- Caritas-Dorf St. Anton: offers individually tailored therapy, school attendance / work for up to 60 people with disabilities. They live in the village.
- Day center Mittersill: For young people with disabilities after completing their compulsory schooling and for adults there is day care and a wide range of employment, therapy and leisure activities.
- Mathiashof: The Mathiashof in the Ellmautal is a nature- loving , agricultural project for people with disabilities. It offers jobs to 20 young people. 15 of them live at Mathias Court.
- Day center Elixhausen: Holistic care with therapy and support offers for around 15 people.
Disaster relief in Germany
Caritas' first point of contact in the event of a disaster is the regional Caritas centers. They are in direct contact with federal states and municipalities and help with financial support, emergency shelter, distribution of food and emotional help for affected families and relatives.
Finances
Income of 33,648,300 euros consists mainly of operating income (24.1 million euros), the donations amount to 4.2 million euros. 4% of the expenses are for administration and less than 1% for fundraising (as of 2017).
