Gandiaye is a town in the department of Kaolack the Kaolack region , located in the central Senegal .

Geographical location

Gandiaye is located in the northwest of the Kaolack department halfway between the regional prefectures Kaolack and Fatick and thus in the middle of the peanut basin of Senegal, five kilometers north of the amphibious bank zone of the Saloum lower reaches , which is here under the influence of tides with alluvial land and island formation in a width of up to meandered six kilometers to the west.

Gandiaye is 136 kilometers southeast of Dakar and 24 kilometers northwest of Kaolack.

Gandiaye is on the N 1 national road , which follows the right north bank of the Saloum at some distance. The N1 connects Dakar, Mbour and Fatick in the west with Kaolack, Kaffrine and Tambacounda in the east and continues at Kidira over the Malian border to Kayes .

Via the N1, Gandiaye is connected to Kaolack Airport, 26 km away, and to the national air transport network.
