Gebersheim is a district of Leonberg in the district of Böblingen in Baden-Württemberg with 2427 inhabitants. The place was an independent municipality until 1974.

Location and traffic

Gebersheim is located on the eastern edge of the Heckengäus .

The district road K1059, which connects Gebersheim with the neighboring towns of Rutesheim and Höfingen , runs through the village . The K1011 leads to the city center, just two kilometers away.

Gebersheim was first mentioned in a document in 1100. 1308 came the place with the Glemsgau to Württemberg. In 1588 the oldest part of the parish church was built. In 1731 there were 39 buildings, including 26 residential buildings. In 1925 476 people lived in 98 houses. Two thirds of the workforce consisted of agriculture and one third of trade and factory work.

In 1968 the new nave of the Evangelical Church of the Resurrection was inaugurated. From 1970 to 1971 the primary school, the kindergarten and the gymnasium and festival hall were built. In 1974 a small swimming pool and the community center were built.

After the district of Leonberg was dissolved on January 1, 1973, Gebersheim became part of the district of Böblingen. On January 1, 1975 Gebersheim was incorporated into the city of Leonberg together with Höfingen and Warmbronn .

In 1979 the inauguration of the fire station took place. The Käppel leisure facility was created in 1982. In 1983 the bus reversing loop with the new village fountain was completed. In 1995 the farmhouse museum opened. In 1991, after a fire, the swimming pool went back into operation as the Gebersheim sauna bath three years earlier . In 2000 the place celebrated the 900th anniversary of the village. In the same year, the second grass field was put into operation. In 2003 the Federal President a. Memorial stone donated to D. Richard von Weizsäcker and created by sculptor Markus Wolf to commemorate the work of Albrecht Goes is unveiled.

The Gäublickhalle was inaugurated in April 2011 . In the place of the demolished gymnasium and festival hall and the community center with sauna bath, residential buildings were built.

The farmhouse museum

The farmhouse museum shows the rural past of the Middle Neckar region, which is today characterized by industry . Originally concentrated in three main buildings - residential building, exhibition and event barn - today other historical buildings located in the immediate vicinity of the museum are part of the museum: the bakery, the village smithy and the cattle scale.
