The Gehäntichel is a 631.2  m above sea level. NHN high elevation of the Franconian Alb low mountain range in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen ( Bavaria ).

location

The Gehäubichel is located in the Altmühltal nature park, directly northeast of Auernheim , the highest town in Middle Franconia, and a little west-southwest of Windischhausen , two districts of Treuchtlingen . It is separated from the Hahnenkamm ridge by the Rohrach valley (eastern Rohrach) . The northeast part of the elevation is forested, the southwest part is forestless. The Schmalenberg rises to the southwest, the Schellenberg to the south-south-west, the Ecklestein to the south and the Geißberg to the south-south-east .

Natural allocation

The Gehäubichel belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Franconian Alb (No. 08), in the main unit Southern Franconian Alb ( 082) and in the sub-unit Altmühlalb (082.2) to the natural area Hahnenkammalb (082.20).

Protected areas

Parts of the nature reserve protection zone in the Altmühltal Nature Park ( CDDA no. 396115; designated 1995; 1632.9606  km² ) and the Fauna-Flora-Habitat- Area Trauf of the southern Franconian Alb (FFH-Nr. 6833-371; 43 , 2442 km²).
