The Schellenberg is 569.8  m above sea level. NHN high, partly wooded elevation of the Franconian Alb low mountain range in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen ( Bavaria ).

The Schellenberg is located in the Altmühltal Nature Park between Auernheim , the highest town in Middle Franconia, in the north and Wieshof in the south, two districts of Treuchtlingen . Parts of the nature reserve protection zone in the Altmühltal nature park are located on the Schellenberg ( CDDA no. 396115; designated 1995; 1632.9606  km² ).

The Wieshofgraben flows to the west . To the north lies the Schmalenberg , east the Geißberg , northeast the Ecklestein and north-northeast the Gehäubichel . Beyond the latter, the Hahnenkamm ridge extends . The border to Polsingen with the district of Döckingen runs about 800 m to the southwest .

The Schellenberg belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Franconian Alb (No. 08), in the main unit Southern Franconian Alb ( 082) and in the sub-unit Altmühlalb (082.2) to the natural area Hahnenkammalb (082.20).
