The Geißberg is 589.1  m above sea level. NHN high, partly wooded elevation of the Franconian Alb low mountain range in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen ( Bavaria ).

location

The Geißberg is located in the Altmühltal nature park, southeast of Auernheim , the highest town in Middle Franconia, and northwest of Hagenhof , two districts of Treuchtlingen . A little south of the partly wooded elevation joins the municipality of Polsingen with the district of Döckingen . Parts of the nature reserve protection zone in the Altmühltal nature park are located on the Geißberg ( CDDA no. 396115; designated 1995; 1632.9606  km² ).

To the west are the Schmalenberg and the Schellenberg , to the north-northwest the Ecklestein and beyond it the Gehäubichel . The landscape leads over the latter to the Hahnenkamm ridge .

Natural allocation

The Geißberg belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Franconian Alb (No. 08), the main unit Southern Franconian Alb ( 082) and the sub-unit Altmühlalb (082.2) to the natural area Hahnenkammalb (082.20).
