Gehmen is a place in the district of Wittenberg in Saxony-Anhalt . In 1973 the previously independent place was incorporated into a district of Axien . Axien and Gehmen have been part of the city of Annaburg since January 1, 2011 .

geography

The place is about 35 km southeast of Wittenberg and about 20 km north of Torgau in the Elbaue at Kleindröbener Riss , an old Elbarm. The current course of the Elbe is about two kilometers west of the town.

history

Gehmen is first mentioned in 1339 under the name Yemen.

The L114 runs through the village. West of the village, on the opposite left bank of the Elbe, runs the B 182, which can be reached with the Elbe ferries in Prettin and Mauken .
