The yellow Mänderle ( Paederota lutea Scop .; Syn .: Veronica lutea (Scop.) Wettst. ) Is a sub- endemic plant species from the plantain family in the southeastern Alps .
features
The yellow Mänderle is a perennial , herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 10 to 35 cm. The stems are erect to overhanging, and hairy slightly curly. The leaves are 3 to 7 cm long and 1.5 to 3 cm wide. The leaf margin has over 10 teeth on both sides.
The chalice is fivefold. The petals are yellow and 10 to 15 mm long. The stamens are about the same length as the corolla. Flowering time is June to August. The fruits are many-seeded capsules .
The species chromosome number is 2n = 36.
distribution
The Yellow Mänderle has a disjoint area : It occurs in the southeastern areas of the Eastern Alps (southern Carinthia , Slovenia , northeastern Italy) and in Herzegovina ( southern Dinaric).
It grows in crevices and in rock rubble, always over lime in the montane to alpine altitude range from 1000 to 2200 m. It is an association type of character of the Potentillion caulescentis.
