Mänderle ( Paederota ) is a genus of plants in the plantain family ( Plantaginaceae ) and is closely related to the genus Speedwell ( Veronica ).
description
Vegetative characteristics
Paederota species are perennial , herbaceous plants that reach heights of 5 to 30 centimeters. The stems are usually leafed with three opposite, undivided pairs of leaves. A basal rosette of leaves is missing.
Generative characteristics
The flowers stand together in terminal, racemose inflorescences . The hermaphrodite flowers are zygomorphic with a double flower envelope . The calyx is weakly unequal to five lobes. The crown is two-lipped and the corolla tube is longer than it is wide. There are two stamens , the stamens of which are fused with the corolla tube at the base. The scar is heady.
The capsule fruits contain many seeds.
ingredients
The genus Paederota contains tribe-specific and Fashion genus specific iridoid - glycosides .
Occurrence
The genus Paederota has a disjoint area : The main occurrence is in the Eastern Alps , Paederota lutea also occurs in Herzegovina . The locations are limestone rubble and limestone crevices in the upper montane to alpine altitude range .
etymology
The etymology of Paederota is not clear. Carl von Linné transferred an old name of the genus Acanthus to the distantly similar species Blaues Mänderle Paederota bonarota . The German name Mänderle may come from the translation of the Greek “pais, paidos” “boy” and “eros” “love”; More likely, however, is a derivation from "Gamander" via "Gamänderle" to "Mänderle".
Systematics
The genus is the sister family of the speedwell ( Veronica ). It consists of two types:
- Blue Mänderle ( Paederota bonarota (L.) L. )
- Yellow Mänderle ( Paederota lutea Scop. )
