The Municipio General Saavedra (also: Agustín Saavedra or just Saavedra ) is a district in the Santa Cruz department in the lowlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality Saavedra is one of five municipalities in the province of Obispo Santistevan . It borders the Municipio Mineros to the north, the Province of Sara to the west, the Municipio Montero to the south, the Ignacio Warnes province to the east , and the Ñuflo de Chávez Province to the northeast . It extends from west to east up to 30 kilometers and from north to south up to 25 kilometers.

The central place of the municipality is the rural town of General Saavedra with 4,611 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) in the center of the municipality; other larger towns are Pico de Monte with 1,207 inhabitants and Puente Caimanes with 832 inhabitants.

The municipality of Saavedra is located in the tropical humid climate in front of the eastern edge of the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Oriental . The region was covered by subtropical rainforest before colonization , but is now mostly cultivated land .

The mean average temperature of the region is almost 25 ° C (see Santa Cruz climate diagram), the monthly averages fluctuate between 20 ° C in July and 28 ° C in December. The annual precipitation is about 1300 mm, the monthly precipitation is productive and lies between 40 mm in August and 200 mm in January.
