history

The alley, which existed since the construction of the 4th city fortifications in the middle of the 14th century, was called An der Ringmauer until 1830, when the towers were demolished . As a result, the part north of Aarbergergasse was called Anatomiegässchen, based on the anatomy that was built in 1834/35 with the inclusion of the Kohler Tower , from 1882 to 1903 this part was called Anatomiegasse . The part south of Aarbergergasse was called Inneres Bollwerk from 1830 to 1903 . In 1903 the street was redesigned and on January 28, 1903, the local council named it Genfergasse, responding to the Rue de Berne, which the city of Geneva had named shortly before.
