Schwanengasse joins Bubenbergplatz in the north and Bundesgasse in the south .

history

The name of the Schwanengasse is said to have originated during the construction period and refers to the swans that were kept on the pond on the Spittelpromenade between the Burgerspital and the Bogenschützenstrasse before they were moved to the bank of the Aare above the Quellenmätteli in 1894 . With the construction of the administration building for Mobiliarversicherung in 1896, the extension to Taubenstrasse was created . In 1915 a connection to Sulgeneckstrasse was completed.
