history

In the 14th century, today's Chrützgasse was expanded like a square and served as the town's main square. At that time, this was the assembly point for the team when moving out or when there was a threat of war, as well as the place where the mayor sat in court. In the middle of the square stood the judge's chair, and the pillory was attached to the pillar corner of the former Zur Waage inn .

The cross street was and is the namesake of each in the immediate vicinity - formerly the top of the Gerechtigkeitsgasse or more recently at the bottom of the Kramgasse - standing cross gas well .
