Aarbergergasse joins Bollwerk in the west, Genfergasse in the northwest , Waisenhausplatz in the east, Neuengass-Passage in the southeast and Ryffligässchen in the south .
history
The alley was laid out during the third city expansion in 1343. At first it was called Golatenmattgasse. The square-like widening of Aarbergergasse west of Genfergasse corresponds to the ground plan of the Golatenmatttor , which was demolished in March 1830 . In 1884 the alley section was provided with a sidewalk without an arbor. In 1886 the two steps in the arbor not far from Genfergasse were removed. 1891 Aarbergergasse received a Holzpflästerung the east of Ryfflibrunnens was to Genfergasse replaced in 1903 and 1925 by an asphalt.

In the school language, Aarbergergasse was called Arabergass until around 1960 . The name Arab is still common today for the Aarbergerhof restaurant, which is located in Aarbergergasse.
