He was the monastery superintendent , canon and dean of the St. Sixti Monastery in Merseburg, consistorial councilor in the Merseburg consistory and the owner of the manor .

Life

Georg Berlich came from a Thuringian civil servant family. His father Peter Berlich was a bailiff of the Tautenburg office and a district judge in Bürgel .

Like his ancestors, Berlich embarked on an administrative career and studied theology at the University of Jena from 1620 onwards, obtaining a master's degree. After first pastorships in Sandersdorf and Benndorf , he became senior pastor in Laucha an der Unstrut in 1641 . 1644 Berlich was at the University of Leipzig to Lic. Theol. , on August 31, 1652 as Dr. theol. PhD. He became monastery superintendent , canon and dean of the monastery St. Sixti in Merseburg and consistorial councilor in the consistory of Merseburg. In this capacity he was involved in the preparation of numerous funeral sermons, some of which appeared in print and have thus survived to this day.

Georg Berlich was the heir to Geiselröhlitz, where he owned the manor there, which also included interest income from Schortau , to which the Counts of Brühl were later also entitled.

He was married to Margaretha nee Lützen. The marriage resulted in Johann Georg Berlich and their daughter Christina Berlich, who was born in 1628 and later married the university professor Georg Möbius in Leipzig .

Georg Berlich died of a sudden stroke while giving a sermon in the pulpit.
