Georg Frotscher

Georg Frotscher (born April 30, 1868 in Chemnitz , † February 27, 1943 in Berlin ) was a German infantry general .

Life

On April 1, 1887, Frotscher joined the 8th Infantry Regiment "Prince Johann Georg" No. 107 of the Saxon Army as a flag boy . He graduated from the Prussian War School in Glogau and the War Academy in Berlin. Until the First World War he served as a commander and general staff officer in various units. With the beginning of the war, Frotscher was appointed chief of the general staff in the XIX. (II. Royal Saxon) Army Corps deployed until 1917. Then he moved to the 8th Army in the same position . From 1918 he was in command of the 104th Infantry Brigade, then the 53rd Reserve Division (3rd Royal Saxon) and finally the 245th Infantry Brigade.

On May 5, 1918, he was awarded the highest Prussian honor for bravery, the Order Pour le Mérite .

On August 27, 1939, the so-called Tannenberg Day, Frotscher was given the character of General of the Infantry.
