Georg Haus (association official)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Georg Haus was a German club and association official.

Haus, who rose as an officer to captain , was active in the Taunusklub Stammklub in Frankfurt am Main , which was founded in 1868 . After the Taunusklub had tried to form a central tourist association from 1879, a "committee" was convened in 1882 on the initiative of Haus. This “provisional central committee” worked out a draft statute. At the constituent meeting on May 14, 1883 in Fulda , the Association of German Tourist Associations , initially joined by 15 hiking associations with over 11,000 members, was founded with Haus as the first chairman. He remained in this office until 1891. During his tenure, the association expanded (1886: 22 associations with 21,200 members) and in 1884 the tourist was introduced as an association organ.
