Ernst Hermann Möckel (born November 21, 1849 in Rothenkirchen ; † July 24, 1920 in Dresden ) was a German seminar teacher , head of the city ​​council, and a club and association functionary.

Life

After attending the Fletscher teachers 'seminar in Dresden and the teachers' seminar in Grimma , Möckel began teaching in 1870. In 1876 he was appointed to the teachers' seminar in Schneeberg in the Ore Mountains , where he worked as a seminar teacher and also as head of the city council until 1910.

During a sleigh ride through the Auersberg region on December 30, 1877, the Schneeberg seminar teachers Ernst Köhler and Hermann Möckel, the council forester Arnold and the master builder Görling decided to set up a local and hiking club for the Ore Mountains when they stopped at Drechslers Gasthof in Wildenthal . Then the Erzgebirgsverein was founded in Aue on May 5, 1878 , Möckel was one of the co-founders. He hit the title of the club magazine Glückauf, first published in 1881 ! before and was its editor from 1892 to 1910 . From 1899 to 1910 Möckel was the chairman of the Erzgebirgsverein.

From 1911 to 1916 Möckel was the managing director of the central committee and thus the chairman of the Association of German Mountain and Hiking Clubs .
