Karl Wegener (master builder)
Karl Wegener (also Carl Wegener ) (* 1846 ; † 1914 ) was a German engineer , master builder , architect and entrepreneur as well as a club and association official.
Wegener was an engineer, builder and architect in Fulda . He held the title of private architect . In his company of the same name, Karl Wegener , he manufactured bricks and bricks and sold them as a building materials dealer . The company was located on the area between Buttlarstrasse and Boyneburgstrasse, where today there is a senior citizen center and a health center.
The villa he built on the Frauenberg in Fulda, below the monastery of the same name , is named after Wegener . Wegener built the villa from 1903 to 1904 as a domicile for himself and his family and moved in on April 27, 1904. There are another five villas he built on the Frauenberg. In 1900 Wegener built the former Jewish retirement home in Fulda. The former Jewish rabbinate and home of Michael Cahn and his son Leo Cahn, both rabbis of the Jewish community of Fuldas , were built in 1902/1903 according to plans by Wegener, as was the former police station in Sturmiusstrasse.
Wegener was President of the Rhön Club from 1904 to 1913 . During his presidency, the membership magazine Die Rhön appeared for the first time in 1912 and the association was divided into Gaue in 1913 .
From 1906 to 1910, Wegener was in charge of the management of the central committee and thus the chairmanship of the Association of German Tourist Associations. During his tenure, the association expanded (1908: 60 associations with 160,000 members) and in 1908 changed its name to the Association of German Mountain and Hiking Associations .
Wegener was a member of the Association for Hessian History and Regional Studies until his death .
