Georg Krause (cameraman)
Georg Krause (born April 15, 1901 in Berlin , † January 3, 1986 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) was a German cameraman .
Life
After his time at high school, Krause began working as a laboratory assistant in a copy factory . In early 1917 he became a camera assistant with the Danish cameraman Axel Graatkjaer . As early as 1922 he was his co-cameraman, and he was only able to establish himself as chief cameraman at the beginning of the sound film age. After a few short films, he shot numerous entertainment films in the 1930s and 1940s until the end of the war .
From 1948 he was able to continue his work and was also responsible as co-director of the comedy Our Wednesday evening . He continued to shoot exclusively black and white films, including two parts of the 08/15 trilogy and the award-winning thriller Night When the Devil Came (1957). Krause was mainly used in unsentimental projects that took place in the Nazi era or in the present, including the two American productions A Man on a Wire (1952) and Paths to Fame (1957).
Georg Krause was temporarily chairman of the Club of German Cameramen and Vice President of the German Union of Filmmakers. He was married and the father of two daughters.
